The Counsel, Global Tax Controversy has a critical role within Keysights Tax Department. This role will provide U.S. and non-U.S. audit strategies and will advise on the risks and opportunities relating to global business operations, global transfer pricing policies and material transactions.
The Counsel, Global Tax Controversy will report to the Director, M&A, Tax Planning, Transfer Pricing and Controversy, and will interact regularly with many other people within the Tax Department as well as functional areas outside of the Tax, such as Controllership, Corporate Development, Legal and Treasury.
Primary responsibilities will include the following:
? Develop and oversee execution of global audit strategies; including advance pricing agreements.
? Manage operations for federal income tax audits; including review and response to IRS Information Document Requests.
? Manage and oversee material non-U.S. income tax audits.
? Coordinate with the Senior Director, International Tax and Senior Transfer Pricing Manager to manage and address global transfer pricing audits;
? Research and draft memoranda documenting positions taken, preparation of FIN 48 analyses and presentations for any tax authority negotiations;
? Manage outside tax advisors and counsel to bring in expertise required for arriving at optimal solutions/decisions; and
? Stay informed of major U.S. and non-U.S. income tax developments (e.g., BEPS, Diverted Profits Tax, DAC6).
? JD required;
? Minimum of 7 years of experience at a law firm or Big 4 accounting firm or Fortune 500 company working on tax controversy and international tax issues;
? Experience with cost sharing, IP valuations and M&A;
? Must have strong analytical skills with proven ability to solve multidimensional problems creatively;
? Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with business and functional leaders across the company; and
? Highest standards of integrity, business controls, and business practices.
