The Civil Division Head supervises attorneys and support staff in the Civil Division of the County Attorney’s Office. The Civil Division Head provides legal advice and services to the county board and county departments; represents Dakota County in civil litigation; drafts and reviews policies and contracts; and advises on legal compliance issues. The areas of legal advice and service performed by the Civil Division include, but are not limited to, open meeting law, data privacy, governmental contracting and procurement, employment, estate transactions, eminent domain and other areas of civil municipal law. The Civil Division Head advises the County Attorney and First Assistant County Attorney on policy issues.
Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school;
Licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota by the date of hire;
Five years of full-time equivalent experience as a licensed attorney practicing in the areas of civil law is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS BEYOND THE MINIMUM
Prior experience as a supervising or managing attorney.
Prior experience practicing in the area of civil municipal law.
