The City of Aspen Assistant City Attorney is responsible for advising City Council, City of Aspen departments, and boards and commissions. This position has responsibility for prosecuting code violations in Municipal Court and representing City of Aspen in other state and federal courts. The ideal candidate will present the ability work independently, establish priorities, and maintain a high level of organization.
This role researches legal problems and makes recommendations on actions, inactions and decisions of City Council, City Departments, and boards and commissions. Knowledge of Colorado local government law is a desirable qualification for this role. This position acts in place of, as directed by and under the direct supervision of the City Attorney.

Education: J.D. Degree
Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience as a practicing attorney.
NOTE: This position requires a Criminal Background Check upon hire. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.
NOTE: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements above.
