Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
- Leads a group of WG-11 level Utility Systems Repair Operators and High Voltage Electricians, Electricians and Maintenance Mechanics in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment control system comprised of various types of various type of electronic industrial controls, servers, controllers, routers, fiber optics, machine specific software, electric and electronic equipment and communication lines and equipment.
- Leads instructs, and directs mechanics in activities related to the electronic industrial control field.
- Designs, fabricates, insta1ls, repairs, and maintains complex electronic industrial controls and systems of a wide variety in the H&RP.
- Repairs, replaces, installs, and modifies software; hardware of the DCS and plant's controls systems, this would include the general design and installation of control systems for critical computer areas and general office space.

Your background must demonstrate a full range of independently performing the most difficult and complex Electronics Mechanic Work Leader tasks including installing, modifying, overhauling, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electronics equipment for chiller plant, boiler plant, sewage lift station, and electric switchgear; Leading, instructing, and directing diverse mechanics by assigning work to ensure maximum productivity; Implementing preventative maintenance to ensure upgrade of software and hardware for boilers, chiller, and sewage plant's automatic controls; applying advanced formulas for electronic testing and repair and load computation; and designing new electronic and electrical systems for modification of building systems.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume or OF-612. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: Works from ladders, scaffolds, and catwalks and in hard to reach areas. Stoops, bends, kneels, and climbs in the performance of duties. Must often assume uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, handles, and carries equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. and occasionally over 50lbs. Work requires a considerable amount of walking.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in the Pentagon Heating and Refrigeration Plant and Pentagon Reservation Buildings and various other locations. Work is usually confined to indoor locations but occasionally requires outdoor work where exposure to heat and cold is possible. ls subject to quick variations in temperature, exposure to acids and fumes from batteries and various other agents, electric shock, high voltage conditions, falls from ladders, and cuts and bruises from tools and heavy equipment Frequently works in awkward positions and potentially hazardous areas. Is subject to exposure to asbestos particles while working m ceiling areas. Incumbent is subject to emergency call 24 hours a day.
When work is being performed in an asbestos contaminated area, special precautions must be taken. These include but are not limited to following the guidelines for working above ceilings and for the wearing of protective equipment; i.e., Tyvek Suits and respirators.
ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act Chapter 21 of Title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.), Section 2108a, requires Federal agencies treat active duty service member as veterans, disabled veterans, and preference eligible, when they submit, at the time they apply for a Federal job, a "certification" of active service in lieu of a DD-214, assuming the service member is otherwise eligible. A "certification" letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. The service member's military service dates are necessary in order to determine whether he or she meets the definition of "veteran" under 5 U.S.C. 2108(1). The "certification" must reflect the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions not later than 120 days after the date of submission. The "certification" must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin (if applicable), your rank, dates of active duty service, the type of discharge and character of service (i.e. honorable). Further, under paragraph (h) of the rule, agencies are required to verify a qualifying separation from military service prior to appointment, through the DD-214 or other appropriate documentation. Your preference and/or appointment eligibility will be verified prior to appointment. Active duty members that fail to provide a valid "certification" of service with their initial application will be found "not eligible." Military members may be appointed before the effective date of their military retirement/separation if member is on terminal leave.
