The Role

The in-house corporate counsel, transactional attorney interested in joining a collegial team of lawyers that together support the sales and product development activity of one of its business units focused on communications, high speed internet services, cloud infrastructure, IT outsourcing, managed IT infrastructure and related technology services. The Main Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess a willingness to learn and understand internal business, operational, financial and technical matters to provide sound legal advice and risk analysis, while simultaneously assisting business clients in achieving their commercial objectives.

The attorney will support Lumen by conducting contract negotiations; drafting agreements and contract templates, with a focus in the Mass Market Connected Communities program; developing and implementing new contract structures to support new product/technology development efforts; clearly and concisely advising and explaining the status and ramifications of contractual terms and legal risks to business decision makers; negotiating agreements directly with opposing counsel; providing ongoing management and maintenance of contracts, including providing contract summaries and interpretations to sales teams and executive management; investigating, negotiating and resolving contract disputes; conducting legal research and review of various legal subjects; assist with support of business unit products and services; and assist more senior level attorneys in the provision of legal advice to clients, litigation, transactions, and other legal matters.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • JD. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Current license to practice law in state where attorneys office will be located or another state.
  • Excellent writing, drafting and verbal communications skills.
  • Organizational, time-management and prioritization capabilities; able to manage workload independently, efficiently and with minimal supervision.
  • Able to negotiate, prioritize and manage a large volume of contracts and associated issues.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Sound business and legal judgment.
