The CalSTRS Office of the General Counsel is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Attorney I in the Legal Services Unit.
Under direction of the General Counsel, the Special Counsel provides direct legal support for the General Counsel across a broad range of legal issues and tasks. The incumbent performs detailed legal research, analysis, drafts legal documents, memos, written analyses, articles and presentations as directed. The Special Counsel provides legal advice and analysis on legal matters arising in connection with CalSTRS activities, including, litigation, benefits, financial and investment issues, compliance with laws relating to public agencies, conflict of interest, public record access, confidentiality, contracting and personnel issues.

COVID-19 Impacts to Working at CalSTRS
CalSTRS has temporarily adopted telework for employees who can perform their essential work functions remotely. In addition, CalSTRS employees are subject to the provisions of the State of Californias Personal Leave Program 2020, receiving additional paid leave in exchange for a 9.23% reduction in base salary.
