This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), DHS Headquarters, Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer (OCHCO).
The primary purpose of this position is to lead a team of Human Resources specialists responsible for providing advisory and consultant services on matters relating to employee benefits and retirement.

As a Supervisory HR Specialist (Benefits) GS 0201 14, your typical work assignments may include:
- Providing senior level advisory services to all levels within DHS Headquarters and its components on headquarters wide issues that impact benefits, entitlements, and retirement.
- Directing the HRMS Benefits Staff and other assigned resources in developing and executing DHS HQ wide objectives, policy and procedures.
- Determining areas of procedural and regulatory deficiencies and provides recommendations to correct or improve personnel practices.
- Serving as a senior HR advisor on integrated management teams chartered to design strategic plans to manage changes in resources or plan future management of resources.

You qualify for the GS-14 grade level (starting salary $121,316) if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: 1. Serving as the senior benefits and retirement consultant of an agency, 2. Reviewing and recommending modifications on agency benefit and retirement policy and procedures, 3. Leading special projects to evaluate and resolve operational issues in the administration of benefits, and 4. Developing and presenting training and policies on various topics regarding future and existing legislation on employee benefits and its impacts on existing agency programs.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level
