  • Exceptional legal knowledge, judgment, work ethic and integrity, and a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with insurance and annuity products and applicable state and federal laws and regulations, including NAIC model rules, SEC rules, and FINRA rules.
  • Familiarity with insurance agent and producer licensing requirements and rules.
  • Provide strategic thought, legal leadership, support and advice to the Firm and its affiliates on a wide range of matters pertaining to insurance products, services and solutions.
  • Ability to develop and implement solutions to eliminate, manage and mitigate risk to the Firm.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex legal matters and recommend changes to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ability to successfully partner with associates across the Firm in a collaborative manner to deliver results and move important work through the organization.
  • Sound judgment, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), presentation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to convey complex issues to legal and non-legal professionals at all levels, including senior leaders.
  • Ability to interact with sophisticated outside counsel to identify, evaluate and resolve complex legal questions and issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 Juris Doctorate
 Minimum of ten years of progressive professional responsibility and experience in relevant practice areas;
 Experience working as an outside counsel representing insurance distributors or carriers, or in-house counsel for an insurance distributor or carrier preferred
 Experience working with state and federal regulators preferred
 Technological aptitude and ability to learn new technologies
