This position will be primarily focused on conducting internal Open Source software reviews, and finding ways to enable Business Units to effectively utilize open source software while also maintaining license compliance and mitigating risks. The successful candidate will work very closely with top software developers to understand how internally developed software will be integrated with Open Source software. They will analyze Open Source license agreements and investigate risks to QUALCOMM’s intellectual property rights associated with using Open Source software. The successful candidate will provide counseling on sophisticated issues regarding Open Source compliance to senior executives, Business Unit engineers and legal staff.

A candidate’s ability to communicate effectively with technical and legal professionals is essential.

Minimum Qualifications
10+ years experience in the following:
– Practicing attorney in the area of intellectual property and open source licensing issues.

Preferred Qualifications
– Counseling in-house on intellectual property and open source issues.
– Software programming basics.
– Bachelors degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering/Science.
