Job Description

The Senior Counsel, Anti-Corruption Compliance, is responsible for leading VF’s Anti-Corruption Program, including third-party due diligence and sanctions compliance.  The Senior Counsel will be responsible for developing and implementing robust policies and procedures to ensure compliance with VF’s anti-corruption efforts and applicable anti-corruption, anti-bribery and sanctions laws. This position will work in close partnership with key business functions such as legal, finance, internal audit, procurement and human resources to implement globally consistent processes and provide guidance and training to further the strategic goals of the company’s global anti-corruption compliance program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead VF’s anti-corruption and sanctions compliance program based on a thorough understanding of global anti-corruption and sanctions laws and enforcement actions
  • Develop strategies in support of the creation, enhancement and implementation of robust and globally consistent policies, procedures, controls, and systems for the global program; work with regional colleagues to drive the progress and enhancement of the program
  • Lead and direct the strategies that support the implementation of third-party due diligence and sanctions screening, including collaboration with external vendors; ensure that such screening is consistent with global policies and procedures
  • Implement anti-corruption training initiatives and collaborate with VF Internal Audit to develop auditing, monitoring and root cause analysis activities using data analytics and related tools
  • Oversee various anti-corruption related internal investigations to ensure consistency with the company’s internal investigations protocol and related laws and regulations
  • Lead the development of strategies in support of the implementation and execution of periodic anti-corruption risk assessments in coordination with regional and local colleagues; develop and communicate recommendations for risk mitigation
  • Provide regular updates to senior management as necessary
  • Lead or support other Ethics and Compliance initiatives, as needed

Required Experience and Education

The successful candidate for this position should have the following educational background, skills and professional experience:

  • Seven to ten years of previous successful business or legal experience in a relevant field that demonstrates a work history of maintaining high ethical standards and personal integrity
  • BA/BS undergraduate degree with excellent academic accomplishment; advanced degree and/or relevant compliance certification preferred but not required
  • Detailed-oriented with strong organizational, execution and project management skills
  • Practical and creative problem analysis and resolution skills
  • Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and discretion in sensitive issues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to communicate and influence effectively at the management level
  • Proficiency in simultaneously handle multiple assignments and prioritize work assignments as needed to meet the demands of VF’s high-energy environment
  • Ability to relate well across cultures with a wide variety of people in a professional and diplomatic manner
  • Demonstration of sound business judgment and support of the Company’s Purpose and Guiding Principles
  • Comfortable engaging in all levels of work from the exciting to the mundane
