Except in special circumstances, those new to the federal government will be hired at the starting salary (step 1) of the applicable grade range listed above.
Provide the Regional Counsel, the Regional Administrator, Deputy Regional Administrator, and the Regional Divisions and Offices with legal advice and policy recommendations on water issues.
Serve as the principal advisor to the Regional Counsel and ORC’s clients on all legal matters pertaining to the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Great Lakes Legacy Act, the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, and the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement.
Handle or oversee high-profile, federal civil and administrative litigation of great complexity and major importance.
Serve as liaison to other Federal and state departments and agency attorney managers to provide an effective channel of communication regarding enforcement and counseling matters.
Direct and coordinate the efforts of supervisors and staff members in the Office of Regional Counsel, conducting research, preparing and reviewing documents and exercising judgment and initiative in assuring completion of assignments and making required legal judgments and policy recommendations.
Occasional travel – You may be required to travel 1 to 5 days per month.
