Overview

As In-house Legal and Privacy Counsel, youll have a broad range of responsibilities providing legal guidance on new business initiatives impacting privacy, data protection and security. You will partner cross-functionally with our InfoSec, engineering, product and other teams to advise on data uses while managing legal risk and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will also be called upon to provide privacy and data security subject matter expertise. As we expand our offerings, your ideas and contributions will make an immediate impact.

Responsibilities:

Negotiating, writing and executing agreements and contracts on behalf of the company

Advising on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals

Provide privacy and data security subject-matter expertise and guidance to cross-functional legal colleagues (including product, employment and commercial counsel), InfoSec, procurement, product, and engineering teams

Respond to privacy and security-related customer and regulatory inquiries and investigations, and draft regulatory filings

Draft external privacy notices and disclosures, and manage/update internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with laws bearing on privacy and cybersecurity

Researching and anticipating unique legal issues that could impact the company

Reviewing advertising and marketing materials to ensure that they are in compliance with legal requirements

Providing training to the company on legal topics

Offering counsel on a variety of legal issue

Advising executives within the company

Working alongside other departments within the company

Qualifications:

Must have a law degree from a recognized university

Must be admitted to a recognized bar

Must have 6+ years of experience gained in large law firm and/or in-house with major firm

Experience providing pragmatic and actionable advice to clients on various legal risks and obligations under privacy and data security laws in the U.S. and Canada

Advised on and managed internal policies and procedures on data use, security, and privacy

Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization

Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues

Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships across all departments

Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
