Position Objective: The position offers an opportunity to work in Citis globally managed Leveraged Portfolio Group. The position will be located at the [Citi Headquarters in New York/Citi offices in Canary Wharf, London], and will focus on diverse and complex loan facilities and related matters for Citis Leveraged Lending businesses, including the opportunity to be involved in transactions generated in EMEA (Europe/Middle East/Africa), Latin America and Asia regions.
Key Responsibilities: Work closely with a team of Bankers within Citis Leveraged Portfolio Group, providing legal support and advice to corporate bankers on a range of transactions and matters related to the making and servicing of Leveraged Lending syndicated corporate loans and related products, while ensuring that Citis documentary standards are maintained and Citis internal policies are met. Responsibilities will include (i) primary responsibility for preparing and tracking documentation checklists and related commercial terms to ensure compliance with Citi documentation standards, (ii) working with senior lawyers to review and advise corporate bankers, Risk and other functions of Citi regarding sophisticated corporate syndicated loan facilities and related loan documentation, including review and negotiation of term sheets, commitment documents, credit agreements, amendments, waivers and similar documents;; (iii) identifying opportunities for improvement in existing and proposed documentation to satisfy Citis internal policies and other guidelines; (iv) participating in loan related projects and initiatives affecting Citis Leveraged Lending business; (v) developing and maintaining a database in order to track key documentation, market and structuring trends; (vi) general awareness of current legal topics and issues related to syndicated loans and products extended to Leveraged Lending clients; and (vi) assisting with conducting training sessions for bankers and risk managers on syndicated loan issues; etc.

2-3 years experience as a finance associate at a well-respected law firm or comparable in-house experience, including experience with leveraged finance and/or high yield transactions.
Commercial awareness of syndicated and leveraged loan origination practices, market standards, and legal documentation used in the banking industry.
Ability to spot issues, think outside the box and devise practical and appropriate solutions that meet business objectives.
Good communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to respond to bankers requests in fast paced, deadline driven deals, often requiring same day turnaround.
Ability to be proactive and anticipate issues with legal documentation.
