As our Assistant General Counsel in the Nike
Direct, Technology , Brand Marketing and Privacy group, you will be responsible
for supporting and leading global legal consumer digital commerce strategies
for Nike, Inc.  Your work will cover an extensive
range of matters including, but not limited to:

  • Drafting,
    reviewing and negotiation of digital platform and vendor agreements and other
    commercial contracts; provide global strategic counseling for consumer issues
    in digital channels  
  • Advising
    and counseling business leaders on consumer protection legal matters that may
    impact digital commerce (including, pricing, advertising, terms and conditions,
    performance marketing etc.) and understanding on how to build these legal
    requirements into a digital products
  • Counseling
    Digital Product Directors and Engineers as they build digital products for
    various channels at Nike and translating legal compliance into practical
    digital product solutions
  • Providing
    practical legal advice for a variety of company strategic initiatives,
    including digital commerce platforms, social media, social commerce, online
    marketplaces and digital products, experiences and services across Nike direct-to-consumer,
    Nike partner and wholesale channels
  • Supporting
    cross-functional legal and business teams supporting the global digital
    commerce strategy, including, but not limited to HR, global sales, information
    technology, information security, government affairs, communication, and
    consumer services
  • Addressing
    legal compliance issues related to consumer digital commerce products, chance,
    launch, sweepstakes, media, and identify and address consumer regulatory
  • Providing
    strategic analysis of global legal risks and set and drive policies and
    solutions to achieve business objectives efficiently. 
  • You’ll
    work on a dynamic team and engage with cross-functional teammates such as local
    in country lawyers, privacy lawyers, government affairs and various business

  • JD
  • Member,
    in good standing, of at least one U.S. State Bar and willingness to commit to
    membership in the Oregon State Bar
  • 8-10
    years experience in the practice of law with a significant focus on digital commerce
    products, marketing and consumer service.
  • Demonstrated
    experience representing corporations in commercial transaction and general
    business law.
  • Substantive
    knowledge of laws related to consumer protection
  • Strong
    understanding of and interest in the technology that supports digital products
    and commerce
  • Excellent
    verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all
  • Bias
    for action and ability to work independently within a multinational
  • Results
    driven; proven experience leading strategic projects
  • Law
    firm experience and experience in a corporate legal department of a consumer
    products company or global retailer is preferred
  • Experience
    advising on business practices in a global company is preferred.
  • Proficient
    in related deal work and how specific contract clauses affect digital products,
    marketing campaigns, and partnerships. 
  • Strong
    team player and ability to work cross-functionally in a complex organizational
  • Sound
    risk assessment capabilities in rapidly evolving digital areas
  • Demonstrated ability to learn
    business requirements quickly, analyze legal and commercial risks and
    propose creative, business-oriented solutions
