ROLE OVERVIEW
In the role of Contracts Counsel, the employee will be responsible for the following:
Leading the drafting and negotiation of all vendor contracts across the business, including research, data, software licensing, telecommunications, consulting, hardware, real estate, recruiting and other products and services
Skillfully managing both legal and practical business considerations while working collaboratively with various BAM departments to ensure timely and efficient review
Developing and improving tracking system for meeting business requirements and improving efficiencies
Reviewing and handling various legal inquiries by business units and assisting in handling and responding to regulatory requests
Willingness to contribute to broader legal team function and learn new skills and subject matter
Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work both independently and in a highly collaborative environment, with good judgment regarding when to elevate issues
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
In order to effectively represent the Company and communicate with internal stakeholders and external counterparties, the employee must be someone who has:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as negotiation and transactional agreement experience.
Practical experience representing financial services industry clients is preferred
Strong desire to work collaboratively with the legal team and other groups within the firm
A high standard of professionalism in all dealings with internal staff and any external vendors, partners, clients and regulatory agencies
Problem solving skills and ability to identify and implement appropriate solutions
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently to meet/exceed deadlines
Consistent work ethic through hard work, confidence and effort
Outstanding attention to detail and strong organization skills
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
At least 2-3 years of legal experience required
Juris Doctorate Degree
Familiarity with the financial markets/finance firms is a plus
Corporate experience is a plus
