Summary

This position is located in the Division of Resolutions and Receiverships, Headquarters Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington, DC, and provides support in the areas of analyzing and monitoring emerging risks in the financial institution industry.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes call report data, other publicly available information, and confidential supervisory information such as bank examination reports, and bank general ledgers to help develop a preliminary resolution strategy model.
  • Gathers and analyzes bank financial information such as asset valuations, balance sheets, and other information to assist the Senior Franchise Analyst in preparing the LCT analysis for bid evaluation to determine the least costly resolution of failing financial institutions.
  • Assists Senior Franchise Analysts with the failing bank resolutions process by writing failing bank board cases. Collaborates with several FDIC divisions to incorporate their input into the board case.
  • Incorporates edits received from FDIC senior management and other staff reviews into the document while maintaining consistency, accuracy, and strict version control throughout the board case process.
  • Assists in monitoring troubled financial institutions by gathering and evaluating quarterly financial data and reports of supervisory condition to support senior franchise analysts and Division.
  • Assists with research and analysis of the financial services industry, the financial markets, financial institutions, including holding companies and affiliates and with the preparation of reports and briefings on current trends facing the Division and its mission responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.     To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 11 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in at least one of the following areas: 1) analyzing and reporting on failing financial institutions, 2) preparing board of director cases, or 3) analyzing bank financial information.

    Applicants must have met the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors – if any) for this position within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.

  • Knowledge of the bank regulatory structures, directives, regulations, and policies related to the franchise analysis of financial institutions.
  • Ability to perform least cost resolutions for failing financial institutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents, board case resolutions, and purchase and assumption agreements.
  • Ability to communicate in writing through correspondence and memoranda.
  • Ability to review and analyze call report data, bank status information and timelines to develop resolution strategies and required reports.
  • Ability to communicate orally through presentations of data.
