About the role
The reliability engineering team at Diavik is responsible for improving the reliability of mobile and fixed plant equipment by analyzing and reporting equipment performance, identifying and communicating opportunities and managing the elimination of equipment defects. The role is an excellent opportunity to be involved with all aspects of asset management and work closely with our maintenance and planning teams.
The key aspects of the role include:
- Cultivating a culture of reliability within the maintenance team
Providing engineered solutions to enable the team to achieve production targets through increased equipment availability
Collaboration with a multi-discipline team consisting of skilled trades, engineers and operators
Facilitation of problem solving sessions such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Excellent opportunities for developing leadership abilities
Hands-on involvement and familiarization with mobile equipment fleet maintenance
Implementation of Rio Tinto asset management best practices
Reporting and communicating equipment performance and project status to the leadership team

The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop themselves with the potential of a future in engineering or maintenance supervision. With that in mind, application to join the mine rescue team and other associated training will be encouraged.
The schedule is a 2 weeks on (working 12 hours daily for 14 days consecutively) / 2 weeks off rotation that includes working weekends and holidays.
To succeed in this role, you will:
- Be a recent graduate (within 2 years of completion of degree)
Graduate of a program in Mechanical Engineering
Have a passion for identifying improvements and implementing change
Have practical industry experience; the individual should feel comfortable working on projects throughout the various areas of the mine, interacting with trades and management and taking a lead role on the assigned tasks.
Have a strong hands-on mechanical aptitude and familiarity with working in a maintenance or fabrication shop environment
Project management experience and skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work independently, and as part of multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team
Previous experience working in reliability and applying root cause analysis techniques would be considered an asset
