This Environmental Planner position will provide you with the opportunity to play a role in all stages of performing alternatives analyses, researching and writing technical reports for CEQA/NEPA documents, preparing permit applications, and participating in public involvement processes for a variety of transportation, water and utility projects for a diverse public and private client base. This position will also provide you with opportunities to grow and learn from highly skilled and experienced members of our team. Assignments are typically well-defined, vary in scope, and are best accomplished by a highly organized, detail-oriented environmental planner with excellent writing skills, practical experience, and working knowledge of CEQA, NEPA and other environmental regulations.
Our Environmental Planners:• Have the ability to research, analyze, and compile data • Prepare and review well written environmental documentation and other related materials • Successfully coordinate regulatory and permitting issues with internal and regulatory agency staff • Effectively communicate with multiple technical disciplines including design, transportation planning, and natural resources specialist staff• Have a strategic knowledge of key regulatory agencies • Work both individually and collaboratively with team members to accomplish assignments and tasks on schedule• Serve as environmental task leads and project managers on projects, and coordinate with clients on project environmental issues• Interact with the public during the public involvement process• Work on project proposals and provide other business development and client relationship support
B S. or higher, in Urban, Regional or Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, Biology/Ecology, Landscape Architecture or related field• 8 15 years of environmental planning experience• Proficiency preparing NEPA and CEQA documentation• Ability to work both individually and as part of a collaborative team contributing to the preparation of environmental documentation for a diverse range of projects• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)• Ability to inform and direct technical discipline staff• Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with clients• Experience and comfort handling public involvement, agency coordination, and interfacing with stakeholders and professionals
