Overview

Basedin Westlake, TX, this role is an attorney with an ERISA and employee benefitsbackground who will provide in-house legal support related to Fidelity’sinternal benefits and compensation programs.

 
The Team
 

Youwill be part of the corporate legal team within Fidelity’s in-house legaldepartment, providing compensation and employee benefits advice to Fidelity’sparent company and to subsidiaries operating in a broad range of industries.

 
The Expertise You Have
 

  • J.D.required.

  • Excellentacademic record.

  • Aminimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Lawfirm experience preferred.

  • In-depthworking knowledge of compensation and employee benefits laws, including theInternal Revenue Code, ERISA, COBRA and HIPAA. A particular focus on executivecompensation, qualified retirement plan compliance and health and welfarearrangements is preferred.

  • Additionalexperience or knowledge related to other HR functions, such as payrolladministration, employment, wage and hour, or general corporate matters is aplus.

  • Partneringwith clients in Human Resources to ensure compliant administration of a widerange of employee benefit plans under ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code.

  • Advisingclients on design and implementation of creative employee benefit andcompensation offerings.

  • Analyzinglegislative and regulatory changes related to compensation and benefits andadvising on implementation strategies.

  • Providingmentorship on Internal Revenue Code Section 409A and other laws impactingcompensation arrangements.

  • Draftingshort-term and long-term incentive compensation arrangements and bonusprograms.

  • Draftingplan documents, agreements, and employee communications, including preparingSummary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), Summaries of Material Modification (SMMs),COBRA notices, ACA information reporting, etc.

  • SupportingERISA claims and appeals processes and ERISA document request responses.

  • Ensuringcompliance with HIPAA and other privacy laws as they relate to the firm’semployee benefit plans.

  • Analyzingemployee benefits and compensation issues and providing due diligence supportin mergers and acquisitions.

  • Participatingin cross-functional working teams.

  • Formingpositive working relationships with your business and legal colleagues.
