The job can be based in New York or the San Francisco Bay Area. The job reports to the Vice President and Associate General Counsel who covers this area.JOB SCOPEAct as lawyer for mergers, acquisitions, minority investments, joint ventures, divestitures, integration, and other strategic initiatives in the United States and elsewhere. Responsibilities will include:Working with business teams to explore targets, negotiate and execute deals, and improve internal processesLeading transaction teams from Legal and Compliance and coordinate with other functions at VisaKeeping abreast of market developments and changes in the law and periodically train internal deal team membersDrafting, reviewing and negotiating definitive documentsConducting and overseeing due diligenceReview presentations and other materialsContributing to integration activitySupervising outside counselQualificationsJuris Doctorate degree with strong academic record from an accredited law school5-8 years of legal experience covering mergers and acquisitions, strategic investment and/or private equity, including experience as lead associatePrior in-house experience preferred but not requiredExperience with international transactions preferredExceptional analytical ability and advocacy skillsExcellent written and oral communication and negotiation skills;Demonstrated ability to drive execution in a team environment, integrating legal advice and business knowledge while providing balanced advice regarding risks and benefitsDeveloped business acumen, with ability to understand the company’s business interests and anticipate the nature and magnitude of issues that could arise in various settingsPractical and proactive problem-solver; confident, mature, calm under fire, with a positive attitudeStrong work ethic for a fast-paced environmentAdmission to the bar in the United StatesAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
