Legal Counsel – San Francisco

Webflow is a visual web development platform that empowers non-coders to create incredible experiences for the web.

Were looking for a Legal Counsel to help us to negotiate and draft a range of commercial agreements, and to help create scalable processes to enable Legal to support the business as it grows.

About the role

  • Location: San Francisco or Remote, U.S.
  • Full-time

As a Legal Counsel, youll

  • Negotiate, draft and review a variety of commercial agreements, such as sales, partnership, vendor, professional services, consulting and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Create and continuously optimize template agreements and contract playbooks.
  • Effectively summarize contractual terms, concepts, and risks to internal clients in a way that is easy to synthesize, and actionable.
  • Establish and improve scalable processes for the intake of legal requests, tracking and memorializing advice given to internal clients, and all aspects of contract negotiation processes.
  • Be a legal point of contact for all aspects of the business, and develop strong, collaborative, cross-functional relationships. You should be a trusted partner to the business, while being mindful of the risk to the company.

That said, these responsibilities are just the start! At Webflow, we encourage you to contribute wherever your interests take you and shape your role accordingly. And this isnt just a philosophical bent: we actually give you 4 hours a week (10% of the work week) to pursue passion projects outside of your role responsibilities.

About you

Youll thrive as Legal Counsel if you:

  • Have a JD, and at least one active bar membership .
  • Have experience with independently drafting and negotiating both inbound and outbound commercial contracts.
  • Are an excellent and detail-oriented communicator, with strong drafting skills.
  • Have an efficient, cooperative negotiation style.
  • Are adaptable and an effective multi-tasker. You are able to manage multiple, sometimes competing, demands for your time. Youre willing to learn new areas of the law and new skills, and to take on additional responsibilities as needed (for example, product counseling).
  • You are a creative thinker and are genuinely excited to partner with the Director of Legal to build out legal processes and tools to help the legal organization scale with the business.
  • Have a sense of humor, curiosity, and fire! You are known to be a helpful colleague.

If you dont meet 100% of the above qualifications, you should still seriously consider applying. Studies show that you can still be considered for a role if you meet just 50% of the roles requirements.
