Job Description and Duties
The Deputy General Counsel independently performs the most complex and sensitive legal work using broad discretion and advises the General Counsel on a variety of matters including administrative, policy and legal issues. The Deputy General Counsel works closely with the General Counsel and the Regional Directors to help oversee the work in the regional offices, and provides direction to staff conducting investigations and prosecuting unfair labor practice cases. The Deputy General Counsel also represents the General Counsel before the Board, Superior Courts and in a variety of policy and outreach matters with stakeholders and other governmental entities.
This position can be located in a variety of geographic areas within California. Remote work will be considered, as long as the candidate lives in California within no more than a half-day’s driving distance to one of our offices. Travel will be required to regional offices as needed and at least monthly to the headquarters office in Sacramento. Offices are located in Sacramento, Indio, Visalia, Salinas, Santa Rosa and Oxnard.
