Job Title: Retail Retention Specialist FLSA: Non-Exempt

This is a one year contract position with possible extension. Employee is expected to work 40 flexible hours per week with day, evening and weekend expectations.
Hy-Vee is partnering with Central Iowa Works to hire a Retail Retention Specialist contractor that will focus on creating career pathways for individuals in the retail environment by facilitating skill development for employees and to meet employer needs. The Retail Retention Specialist provides support and coordinates services, processes and programs that retain, develop and move incumbents (particularly frontline employees) up into positions providing sustainable wages and beyond, within the retail sector.
Reporting Relations
Accountable and Reports to: Vice President, Human Resources; Central Iowa Works Operations Director
Positions that Report to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Coach frontline employees and build one-to-one relationships as a positive role model and advisor for career pathway goals and plans to achieve desired career,
+ Connect frontline employees with opportunities to obtain necessary education/training to move into higher level retail positions
+ Develop relationships and collaborate with project stakeholders
+ Utilize tools to track, analyze, manage and report data to CIW Operations Director/Retail Lead
+ Assist participants with identifying community resources for personal barriers that impact career development.
+ Deliver retail and customer service training to a variety of diverse groups
+ Provide feedback to participants and participants’ supervisors, and human resources as necessary.
+ Perform follow-up activities to ascertain effectiveness of programming and to gather required information for reporting requirements.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company
+ Career coaching, experience in a retail setting, supervisory experience, experience implementing new programs, experience facilitating training and facilitating groups
+ Good verbal and written communication skills
+ Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate to and interact with people in a friendly, professional manner
+ Highly organized and detailed orientated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
