DCS is looking for an engineering professional to manage operations and support basic research in a shared-use innovation facility supporting the U.S. Army Research Laboratory at Aberdeen Proving Ground. <br /><br />This facility will be engaged in research to monitor and influence human behavior through novel technologies such as wearable and environmental sensors, displays, and effectors. <br /><br /><strong> Essential Job Functions: </strong><br /><br />Support the acquisition, setup, and operation of technical infrastructure (hardware and software) as well as maintain an inventory of equipment and consumables. <br /><br />Develop and implement policies for managing shared facilities, such as resource scheduling and equipment safety protocols. <br /><br />Coordinate and facilitate knowledge sharing through informal lectures, workshops, and ad hoc interactions. <br /><br />Analyze customer objectives to derive system design and system interface specifications. <br /><br />Work with research teams to customize software solutions for specific experimental objectives. <br /><br />Perform software / hardware integration and maintenance. <br /><br />Perform software component tests and system integration tests for adherence to specifications. <br /><br />Recommend new technologies and novel approaches for complex system requirements. <br /><br />Apply best practices (version control, documentation, etc.) for all developed and modified software. <br /><br /><strong> Required Skills: </strong><br /><br />Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required. <br /><br />Must be able to obtain a National Agency Check (NAC) clearance. <br /><br />Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, and 2 years of professional experience. <br /><br />Experience developing software in an object-oriented language (such as C++, Java, Python, etc.) <br /><br />Experience with network (sockets) programming and networking in general. <br /><br />Experience with multithread or multiprocess programming. <br /><br />Experience developing for an embedded platform (such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.) or equivalent hardware integration experience. <br /><br />Experience using version control systems (such as Git, CVS, Subversion, etc.). <br /><br />Excellent written and oral communication skills. <br /><br />Excellent organizational skills. <br /><br />Must be ready to adapt to quickly changing requirements during the development process. <br /><br />Successful candidates will be highly motivated and team-oriented. <br /><br /><strong> Desired Skills: </strong><br /><br />Experience working in a research laboratory or similar environment is a plus.
