You will be responsible for ensuring the remote
operations center data, displays and reports are accurate. The Systems Engineer role will facilitate the reliable, safe and efficient operation of
utility scale renewable facilities and other renewable projects. In
addition, the Systems Engineer will act as the NERC/CIP Manager. The
Systems Engineer will have experience in SCADA technologies, programming of
SCADA systems, programmable logic controllers, field measuring devices, plant
networks, network hardware and software, network troubleshooting, electric
metering technologies, telecommunications technology, data collection, data
storage, data retrieval and data analytics as related to renewable
technologies. The Systems Engineer will have a good understanding of utility
operations, plant control systems and high voltage transmission systems.
Overall, the Systems Engineer is expected to be well versed in power
production and engineering as well as have had significant practical hands
on experience with a proven track record in the energy business. The Systems Engineer will have demonstrated experience with one or more of the following,
OSISoft Coresight/Vision, Bazefield, Power Factors, Power BI. The Systems Engineer will utilize analytical tools to identify production abnormalities,
prioritize corrective actions and communicate these priorities to plant
operators. The Systems Engineer must have basic knowledge of safety
practices including NFPA 70E and OSHA Rules and Regulations as they apply to
power generation, distribution and transmission.

About this role

Ensure that the ROC is operating properly with all data feeds intact and current. Troubleshoot ROC problems and coordinate expedited resolution of problems by working with the Information Technology department as well as coordinating with plant personnel. Review operating reports and data to ensure accuracy, take corrective actions as necessary to resolve abnormalities.

Review operating data and resolve problems that are affecting facility output. Identify causes and implement corrective actions. Assist Asset Managers, Operators, and Electricians in resolving technical issues with facilities. Write procedures and establish plans to facilitate rapid identification and remediation of SCADA, networking and communications problems.

Maintain knowledge of renewable technologies commercially available data analytics, SCADA systems, data storage and retrieval technologies, PLCs, networking technologies and communications equipment. Fulfil the NERC/CIP Manager responsibilities.

Establish and maintain working knowledge of various equipment suppliers technologies.

Prepare procedures, maintenance plans, log entries, and reports to management; manage administrative tasks.

About you

Engineering degree preferred or well documented relevant work in power generation, data analytics, SCADA system engineering and networking.

5+ years engineering experience in energy-related technologies and applications required or demonstrated equivalent

Demonstrated experience with NERC/CIP requirements and regulations.

Power distribution and transmission systems experience

Specific experience in the design, evaluation and operation of large scale PV solar and/or wind technologies strongly preferred

Experience in the overall aspects of design engineering, construction, start-up/commissioning, and subsequent O&M of distributed energy projects

Prior work experience in a solar/wind power generating environment is preferred

Production data evaluation and implementation of corrective actions

Working knowledge of electricity and hazards posed by electrical equipment and conductors is required

Working knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and ability to establish maintenance programs

Agreeable to working extended hours, off shifts, holidays and weekends to meet operational needs.
