Description:This position supports the Vice President and General Counsel of Space and the executive leadership of the Military Space line of business, which includes national security and military satellites and related activities.
The role involves providing legal support regarding a full spectrum of transactions and subject areas, including U.S. government contracts; subcontracts; bid and proposal preparation; contract performance; and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate must have the ability to identify critical legal issues and appropriately balance risk and business strategy. He or she must successfully convert legal recommendations to actionable advice for program and other personnel. Strong executive presence and the ability to interface with leaders at all levels is key. He or she must develop relationships with and influence internal and external stakeholders, and collaborate and thrive in a matrixed environment. The successful candidate must be a strong leader who has the desire and ability to manage and develop other attorneys.

J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
A member in good standing of a state bar.
Twenty years of relevant experience.
Work for a U.S. government entity or nationally recognized law firm.
Demonstrated strategic mindset and business acumen.
Ability to provide advice that appropriately balances legal, pragmatic, and business objectives.
Record of successful performance and increasing levels of responsibility.
Ability to manage, train, and guide other attorneys.
Successful record of managing outside counsel.
Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, high-profile environment.
Ability to travel, estimated at 20%.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Commitment to ethical behavior and ability to function well in a diverse and inclusive environment.
Law firm, government, and in-house experience.
International trade compliance expertise.
Background in the aerospace or national security industry.
Experience with dispute resolution and litigation.
Active security clearance.
