Job Description

Provides executive level oversight of the Law Department’s Strategic Advocacy Initiative, which aggressively pursue opportunities to advance the City’s policy objectives through litigation, legislation and rulemaking.  Will also serve as the City’s Census director, whose primary responsibilities will be organizing the extensive outreach that encourages every New York resident to participate in the 2020 census.  This is necessary in order for New York to receive its fair share of social services funding and political representation based on an accurate census count.

Minimum Qual Requirements

Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work.

Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
