<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />The Office of Inspector General (OIG), works within the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to promote efficiency and effectiveness, and prevent or stop waste, fraud and abuse in departmental programs. We do this through audits and investigations. OIG carries out its mission by issuing audit reports, evaluations, management advisories, and other products with findings and recommendations to improve program delivery and performance.<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />As Chief Information Officer (CIO), you will be responsible for managing, delivering, and securing information resources, and developing a sustainable technological infrastructure for the OIG. Set standards to maintain high quality, state-of-the-art products and services. Coordinate IT development plans and strategies with the DOT CIO. Establish the OIG strategic plan for IT, including goals for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of OIG operations through the application of IT.<br /><br />The (CIO) works closely with agency program leadership to help leverage information technology resources to effectively support the agency's mission needs. These information resources include computer hardware/system software (including e-mail and other office automation software), and network systems. The CIO provides national leadership for the efficient and economical delivery of these resources and oversees the development of applicable policies, plans, standards, guidelines, and procedures; provides leadership, standard processes, and expertise to support integrated mission business process engineering.
