Job Description

The Returnship program at Workday is a 16-week paid returnship for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for caregiving. The program is open to women and men who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least two years to focus on caring for a child or other dependent. Workday, is seeking outstanding lawyers with  8+ years legal experience to join their growing legal team. We are looking for a counsel with product, technology or transactional experience. Our mission is to propel Workday’s growth and success through sound counsel and efficient execution. We are committed to driving strategic change through informed and intelligent legal counsel and business partnership. We look for individuals who can manage multiple responsibilities and tasks in a fast-paced and high energy environment. Our leaders possess exceptional judgment and strong business acumen, and will be able to hit the ground running as a business oriented strategic advisors.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • JD, excellent academic credentials

  • Bar Admission, preferably California

  • 8+ years of law firm and/or in-house legal department work experience, with  a focus on negotiation of significant technology transactions, product or technology support.

  • The ideal candidate will have excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills and a highly polished and professional demeanor.

  • The candidate must be comfortable and adept at interacting effectively in a highly customer satisfaction focused environment.

  • The ideal candidate will also be comfortable and adept at teaming with sales or product colleagues in a fast paced customer facing transactions, demonstrate competencies as a critical thinker and proactive problem solver, with a willingness to roll up his/her sleeves to get into the details and drive creative solutions.

  • Specific experience in a SaaS, cloud computing, or enterprise software

  • Detail-orientation, excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple transactions and projects simultaneously under deadline pressure

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to create and sustain lasting relationships with customers and management
