<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC), Asset Logistics Division, Logistics Supply Support Branch, Inventory Control Point Operations Section, in Baltimore, Maryland.<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />You will be responsible for operating a variety of materials handling and transport automotive equipment such as mobile boom crane, fork lift, stake truck, pick-up truck and similar equipment throughout the Coast Guard (CG) Yard/SFLC.<br /><br />Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.<br /><br />Typical work assignments include:<br /><br />- Lifting, positioning and transporting supplies, materials, and equipment throughout assigned area.<br /><br />- Performing occasional bridge crane operational work.<br /><br />- Performing operational maintenance on assigned equipment such as checking tire pressure and defects; testing vehicle for proper amount of hydraulic fluids; checking fuel, oil and water and checking cables for work or damaged places.<br /><br />- Estimating the weight and center of gravity of the load to be moved. <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Not required<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 09 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>U.S. Citizenship is required.</li> <li>Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.</li> <li>Applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing.</li> <li>The position requires a valid state driver's license.</li> <li>Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.</li> </ul> <br /><br />All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.<br /><br /><b>Qualifications</b><br /><br />Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.<br /><br />Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:<br /><br />1. Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREENOUT).<br /><br />2. Operation of motor vehicles.<br /><br />3. Work practices (including keeping things neat, clean and in order).<br /><br />4. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation).<br /><br />5. Ability to drive safely (motor vehicles).<br /><br />6. Ability to operate safely (non-motor vehicles).<br /><br />7.
