<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.<br /> Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />As a SECURITY SPECIALIST at the GS-0080-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: <ul> <li>Managing the day-to-day operations of assigned areas and acts as a liaison with higher-level managers, subject matter experts, and customers both within and outside the Agency.</li> <li>Analyzing, planning, advising, and evaluating the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting the information, operations, facilities, and/or personnel of the Agency from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss.</li> <li>Maintaining accurate and current security related records of all Agency personnel, taking follow-up actions to ensure that security clearance eligibility, in-coming and out-going visitor authorizations have the appropriate type of background investigation and all issued items for access to facilities are in accordance with DoD security regulations and policies.</li> <li>Performing daily security discipline activities which include: Security In/Out Processing for all personnel who require access to Agency facilities and networks; various security briefs/trainings (all security disciplines to include cyber awareness and PII); process/file/security documents; issue badge/id's and courier cards; prepare forms for Pentagon/NCR access; maintains liaison with key internal and external security personnel; prepare and sign correspondence regarding security clearance verification or access; accurate data entry into various security systems; periodic checks and cross-referencing with various security systems, manning documents and network access reports as a baseline vulnerability/risk assessments; conducts routine audits on security systems; analyze data and report on trends to assist in the protection of resources, facilities, and personnel.</li> <li>Establishing sponsorship for a CAC on Agency contract employees and other government personnel by verifying security clearance and Agency agreements are in place.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Not required<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 13 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>Must be a U.S. citizen</li> <li>Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service http: www.sss.gov</li> <li>Resume and supporting documents (See How To Apply)</li> <li>Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation</li> <li>May be required to successfully complete a probationary period</li> <li>Work Schedule: Fulltime</li> <li>Overtime: Occasionally</li> <li>Tour of Duty: Flexible</li> <li>Recruitment Incentives: Authorized</li> <li>Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Exempt</li> <li>Financial Disclosure: Required</li> <li>Telework Eligibility: This position is telework eligible</li> <li>Must consent to and pass pre-employment drug testing and be subject to periodic random drug testing thereafter</li> <li>May be subject to random DoD counterintelligence scope polygraph if assigned to programs or duty locations that have such a requirement</li> <li>Must be able to obtain/maintain a TOP Secret security clearance with SCI access</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Qualifications</b><br /><br />You may qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: <br /><br />One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: <ul> <li>Processing and reviewing security background investigations for continued eligibility to sensitive and classified information/positions and designation of position sensitivity reviews;</li> <li>Developing and implementing security procedures and workflows for various security disciplines that include access control;</li> <li>Providing classroom and individual Personnel Security training to agency personnel;</li> <li>Providing Security Briefings at arrival, ad-hock and during Quarterly Security Manager meetings.</li> </ul> Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
