<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />This position is located within Commander, Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program. The purpose of this position is to perform duties preparing food items and operating the mobile canteen throughout the station and may include restricted areas. This position is located at NSA-NNSY Co-Op Association/CMWR in Portsmouth, Virginia.<br /> Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />Operates a mobile food service vehicle on a predetermined scheduled route. Responsible for the requisition of food and other retail items, stock, and inventory daily. Assists with the preparation of the food items needed, loads unit with prepared food, other retail items, and ice. Items sold include hamburgers, hot dogs, wrapped sandwiches, pastries, salads, complete dinners, soups, hot and cold beverages and other seasonal items and daily specials. Ensures that adequate stock levels are on hand to meet anticipated daily demands based on past history, weather, and seasons.<br /><br />Ensures that standard prices and appropriate portions are applied and that a clearly visible price list and/or menu board is available to customers. Collects money, makes change, maintains a change fund, prepares the Daily Activity Report (DAR) and daily inventory sheets, and ensures food and retail merchandise is properly displayed. Ensures all sanitation, fire, safety and security regulations are enforced at all times.<br /><br />Performs daily cleaning necessary for the sanitary operation of the mobile unit and ensures cleanliness is maintained inside and outside the vehicle. A minimum of 6 months prior food service experience is required, with experience in food preparation strongly preferred. Must be able to quickly develop a working knowledge of the activities and assigned area of responsibility. Must possess basic math ability, to include running a cash register, making correct change, preparing daily cash reports, and maintaining correct inventory levels. Must possess the ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance. Must present a neat well-groomed appearance and a pleasant customer service attitude at all times.<br /><br />SUPERVISORY CONTROLS <br /><br />Reports directly to the assigned facility manager, who provides assignments and reviews work. The incumbent plans and carries out the site mobile sales in accordance with standing instructions and official policies. Incumbent performs recurring tasks independently, and work is periodically spot checked.<br /><br />GUIDELINES <br /><br />The incumbent uses established guidelines, operating procedures, and published policy. Guidelines are generally clear, and the supervisor is available in case of new or unusual situations.<br /><br />COMPLEXITY <br /><br />The work consists of continuing assignments, which are generally repetitive in nature. The incumbent must be able to recognize and plan for changes in operation and customer demand due to weather conditions, base staffing, and season.<br /><br />SCOPE AND EFFECT <br /><br />The incumbent plans, develops and manages a remove food service delivery program. The services provided may be highly visible, and directly contribute to the satisfaction of the customers served, who may otherwise not have food services readily available during their shifts.<br /><br />PERSONAL CONTACTS AND PURPOSE OF CONTACTS <br /><br />Contacts are with MWR program staff, DoD civilians and military members, which may include officers and enlisted. Purpose of contacts with MWR staff is to order and prepare food and retail items for sale, get and provide information, and ensure proper reporting and upkeep of vehicle. Contacts with civilians and military members are to sell food and retail items, and gather information on quality/quantity of Items needed, and suggestions for other items of interest to the customer.<br /><br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT <br /><br />Duties are performed primarily ln an outdoor setting and exposed to the elements and inclement weather. Work may require prolonged standing, reaching and walking as well as lifting object up to 45 pounds and have the ability to close doors with struts rated at 45 pounds. Food preparation duties are performed in a kitchen area subject to the normal hazards. Kitchen areas can be warm and noisy and exposed to fumes and cooking odors with the danger of falls, burns and cuts. Outdoor setting can be exposed to extreme hot, humid, and cold temperatures as well as other inclement weather.<br /><br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS <br /><br />Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license. Must possess health card prior to beginning work, and must maintain a valid health card at all times. Must pass the required security clearance for restricted areas required by the station, and a National Agency Check upon hire and periodically thereafter as a condition of employment.
