University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks a Teller in the Office of Student Accounts. Reporting to the Cashier Manager, the Teller performs complex accounting, clerical or bookkeeping tasks to support accounts payable/receivable, payroll, timekeeping, auditing, cashiering, grants accounting, and/or other accounting related functions.<br /><br />*Hours for this position are as follows: Monday – Friday 8:30am-5:00pm*<br /><br /><b>SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:</b><br /><ul><li>Post journal entries, process payments or deposits, and verify accuracy of data.</li><li>Provide customer service to students and staff members that walk up to the window.</li><li>Process daily cashiering transactions for student accounts.</li><li>Balance petty cash, acting as the Teller for the National Leadership Institute (NLI), and ensure that transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental standards for quality assurance.</li><li>Provide investigator's information on student's financial standing with the school.</li><li>Print statement of accounts for students that walk up to the window, process departmental deposits, and gather information for the performance indexes.</li><li>Scan and copy cashiering batches into OnBase.</li></ul><br /><b>REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</b><br /><ul><li>High School diploma or equivalent, and minimum of five (5) years accounting clerical work, with 2 years as a cashier, or commensurate experience. </li><li>Customer service experience working in a financial institution or accounting environment highly desired. </li><li>This position requires general knowledge of bookkeeping principles, mathematical methods, and techniques and accounting standards; skills in performing mathematical computations, using analytical techniques to reconcile financial data, reviewing and processing financial documents, operating calculators, personal computers, and related software.</li><li>Experience with MS Office Suite.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, prepare written records and reports, work independently with little supervision, and operate manual and automated office equipment.</li></ul><br /><b>PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: </b><br /><ul><li>Prefer candidates who have completed at least two (2) years of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.</li></ul><br /><b>POSITION AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY & WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED</b><br /><br /><b>SALARY COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE</b><br /><br />All submissions should include a cover letter and résumé.
