<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />This position works in the operation divisions of the District of Columbia Courts providing administrative and clerical support as assigned.<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts' values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency.<br /><br />The <strong>Bilingual</strong> <strong>(Spanish) Deputy Clerk</strong> works in the operational divisions of the District of Columbia Courts providing administrative and clerical support and providing exceptional customer-service in English and Spanish to the public, judicial officers, attorneys or staff. Duties include some or all of the following:<br /> <ul> <li>Assists general public, attorneys, judicial officers and staff.</li> <li>Provides exceptional customer service in English and Spanish.</li> <li>Reviews and processes documents and orders.</li> <li>Completes forms or other materials such as warrants, summonses, complaints, and subpoenas.</li> <li>Provides and receives information from citizens, police officers and witnesses as necessary for clarifying facts or preparing reports.</li> <li>Maintains calendars, appointments, juries, and services.</li> <li>Collects and compiles statistical data.</li> <li>Administers oaths or affirmations.</li> <li>Types correspondence, reports, and other documents.</li> <li>Files jackets and case documents.</li> <li>Enters and retrieves data using automated databases and manual logs.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><strong>This announcement will create a roster/list for all Superior Court Bilingual Deputy Clerk vacancies.</strong><br /><br /><strong>The selected candidate must be able</strong> <strong>to speak, interpret, read and write Spanish and English fluently</strong><strong>.</strong><br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Not required<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 08 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed.</li> <li>Background and security investigation are required.</li> <li>Candidates must be able to speak, interpret and write English and Spanish.</li> </ul> <br /><br />To qualify for this position, you must submit the following:<br />1. If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted.</strong><br /></strong><br /><br /><b>Education</b><br /><br />To qualify based on education, upload copy of your college transcript or degree. The transcript must show the name of the college or university, your name, list of courses with credit hours, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.<br /><br />Foreign Education: Education completed outside the United States must have been evaluated by a private U.S. organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials, commonly called a credential evaluation service or education to meet the above requirements.<br /><br /><b>Additional information</b><br /><br />This job is being filled by an alternative hiring process and is not in the competitive civil service.<br /><br />Please note there is a mandatory one year probationary period for all non-judicial new employees.<br /><br />All required information must be received by the closing date. <br /><br /><b>How You Will Be Evaluated</b><br /><br />You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.<br /><br />Testing will be required of qualified candidates in keyboarding (40 WPM corrected for errors), language arts (grammar, punctuation, and spelling) and numeric filing. If you previously took these tests and passed, please let the HR professional know.
