<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />This position is located in the Office of Facilities Management and Reliability (OFMR), Smithsonian Facilities (SF), Smithsonian Institution (SI). The incumbent serves under the general supervision of the Facilities Services supervisors. The incumbent performs a variety of duties in zone to support overall facility maintenance; work includes performing heavy manual tasks and maintaining facility cleanliness. <br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />Smithsonian Facilities provides unparalleled stewardship of Smithsonian buildings, gardens, and facilities – operating, maintaining, and ensuring a safe, secure, healthy environment that enhances the Smithsonian experience for all. Also requires frequent lifting and emptying wastebaskets and lifting, pushing, pulling, moving and carrying items weighing over 50 pounds. Heavy exertion is required at frequent intervals. Must have physical capacities for working outside in excessive heat, excessive noise, confined areas, inclement weather and on slippery or uneven surfaces that can be found at or in transit to and from worksites. Requires occasional operation of heavy duty scrubbers and floor buffers requiring physical ability to control heavy duty equipment and perform minor maintenance on this equipment.
