Who we’re looking for

The TFS Corporate Legal Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Vice President, General Counsel who is a proven leader with ability to build, develop and inspire team while advising executive, senior management and board on various legal matters.

Reporting to the President of Toyota Financial Services, the primary responsibility of this role is to provide counsel to senior leadership on both the business and legal ramifications of significant strategic imperatives related to the regulatory, corporate, transactional, product, governance, government relations and regulatory challenges in the insurance and financial services sectors.

What you’ll be doing

Provide expert and strategic legal advice to our company

Actively engage as member of senior leadership team and be a trusted advisor to the CEO

Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors

Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action

Communicate effectively to align with business goals and objectives

Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks

Base decision-making process on ethics and integrity

Create associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders
Qualifications
 
What you bring
Juris Doctor degree
Active membership in good standing in the bar of at least one U.S. state/jurisdiction; also, must be able to obtain license to practice law in Texas

15 years or more experience as a law firm partner or general counsel

Extensive knowledge of banking regulations and finance

Ability to attract, select, develop, direct, motivate and drive performance from highly diverse teams

A creative mindset to develop strategic solutions
Ability to communicate effectively to align with business goals and objectives

Excellent written and oral communication skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively to gain credibility of internal and external stakeholders

Effective and efficient problem solver and collaborator

Strategic mindset, excellent judgment at a complex organizational environment level, and proactive and dynamic style

Passion to actively lead and support cultural priorities

Added bonus if you have

Public company experience with expertise in SEC reporting and disclosure
Financial services experience within one of the following: banks, investment banks, insurance companies, credit card companies and stock brokerages.

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) experience
