A role with Employee Relations means the opportunity to provide legal counsel on internal employee relations matters for our domestic field, headquarters and international locations. Your internal clients will be Human Resources and various business leaders, and you’ll consult on investigations and respond to both internal and external claims.
As a Director Counsel, you’ll provide the highest level of expertise in a major substantive law specialty important to Target Corporation’s success. This includes remaining current on legal and business developments and working with the business in assigned areas to identify legal risks ensuring that Target’s business methods comply with law. You’ll establish and enforce work processes along with identifying and managing resources to ensure legal issues are being addressed. You’ll identify and retain outside counsel, establish standards for legal work and ensure that work is performed in a cost-effective manner. This could include representing Target’s interests to outside entities, possibly including government agencies. Directors work independently with minimal direct supervision, deliver concise, respected and accepted legal advice to all management levels and coordinates the activities of other professionals in those areas. • Law degree from accredited law school; admitted or eligible for admission to Minnesota bar
• 5+ years legal experience
• Significant experience and demonstrated expertise in the assigned major area of responsibility
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Strong partnership and project organizational skills
