If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.<br /> <ul> <li>Provide technical guidance with analyzing and defining network requirements; analyzing network workload which includes monitoring network capacity and performance. </li> <li>Diagnose and resolve network problems by fully documenting issues and resolutions.</li> <li>Develop and maintain network infrastructure backup procedures. Specialized experience or General experience for this position includes: <br /><br />- Providing technical advice, guidance and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on IT issues and developments; AND<br /> – Installing and maintaining IT security applications and patches; AND<br /> – Conducting risk analysis and recommending IT security and system upgrades as necessary.<strong><br /><br /></strong><br /><br /><strong>Specialized experience: </strong> For the <strong>GS-11</strong>, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the <strong>GS-09 </strong>grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience or General experience for this position includes: <br /><br />- Providing technical guidance in analyzing and defining network requirements; AND<br /> – Configuring and optimizing network servers, routers, and switches; AND<br /> – Remaining current on IT security requirements, equipment and procedures.<br /><strong><br /> OR<br /><br /></strong>You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:<br /><br />A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. (In order to be creditable, education must be related to the position being filled with a major study of computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.)
