Our growing global Music Group, part of the Business & Legal Affairs Team, is looking for a new member to join the team: an Associate who shares our passion for music and the entertainment industry to help support our expanding slate of Originals content. The Music Group is based in Los Angeles, London and Berlin and is responsible for all of Netflix’s global music business and strategy, from the production and licensing of Netflix Originals through to the distribution of the Netflix service globally. This role is based in our Los Angeles office and will report to a Senior Counsel/Director of Music and will be responsible for drafting and negotiating various music agreements in support of the broader Music Group. This role will have exposure to and the opportunity to work on all types of production content across the company including scripted and unscripted series, film features, indie film, documentaries and kids and family programming.
The successful candidate will have: 5+ years of series/film production music experience specifically in structuring, negotiating and drafting music agreements including composer agreements, music supervisor agreements, songwriter agreements, music producer agreements, artist agreements, sideartist agreements and record company and music publishing waivers; in-depth knowledge of music copyright and the series/film production process – from script to budget to music clearance/licensing to composer engagement/recording through to delivery, cue sheets, music publishing administration and launch; practical knowledge of the music and technology industries (including active relationships with music agents, managers, music publishers and record companies); and an understanding of the evolving theatrical, VOD, TV, syndication and home video landscapes. International market experience and international production experience is a plus. Experience providing in-house support in a television or film production company is highly preferred.
