<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />The salary for Tier 2 position in Army is normally between $168,165 – $185,000<br /> Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />The Director, Soldier & Family Legal Services provides leadership and policy oversight for the Army Legal Assistance, Special Victims Counsel and Claims Programs and their provision of legal services to Soldiers and families world-wide; and as Suspension & Debarment Official (SDO) executes Suspension & Debarment (S&D) responsibilities on behalf of the Secretary of the Army. Independently responsible for supervision and effective operation of the US Army Claims Service (USARCS) and the OTJAG Legal Assistance Policy Division, and for the planning and development of the Army's world-wide Claims and Legal Assistance Programs. Independently responsible for doctrine development and the provision of legal services to the Army's wounded, ill and injured Soldiers under the Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES), and providing legal assistance to victims of sexual assault. Independently adjudicates S&D actions, engages internally and externally to shape S&D legislation, regulation and policy, and as Senior Accountable Official executes OMB direction to evaluate and ensure appropriate resourcing of the Army's (S&D) program. Oversees USARCS execution of an annual budget of approximately $40 million. Serves under the general direction and receives broad strategic guidance from The Judge Advocate General and the Deputy Judge Advocate General. Applicants must currently be a member in good standing of the Bar of a state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Management desires that applicants have at least five (5) years of professional legal experience acquired after being admitted to the bar, practicing law at a major command or higher level (or equivalent level in the civilian sector) as is commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position or possess an LLM in the desired area of practice with three (3) years of professional legal experience acquired after being admitted to the bar, commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position.
