The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations. <br /><br /><strong> Job Summary </strong> <br /><br />The Elevator and Escalator (ELES) Engineer position ensures the integrity and maintenance of elevator and escalator equipment and systems. The responsibilities include initiating and directing potential engineering modification, improvements, and corrective action for the elevator and escalator system. <br /><br /><strong> ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS </strong> <br /><ul> <li> Provides technical support to elevator and escalator maintenance teams to assist in effective and swift return of the unit back to service. </li> <li> Develops and maintains a remote monitoring system to track elevator and escalator system functions to diagnose the fault and assist in correcting the failure. </li> <li> Reviews Capital Improvement Programs (CIP) project submittals, providing comments and guidance to ensure reliability and safety compliance in the finished product. </li> <li> Review submissions for new construction to ensure compliance with project design requirements. Work with other WMATA offices to make sure the project in compliance with code and specification. Attend meetings and perform project site visit. </li> <li> Performs first article inspections (FAI) to confirm that finished products conform to industry regulations and Authority safety standards and guidelines. </li> <li> Optimize manufacturer part source and vendor selection, maintaining parts and description documentation to maintain accurate inventory data. </li> <li> Performs engineering and technical inspections to maintain equipment integrity. </li> <li> Conduct thorough equipment and system failure investigations and inquiries, analyzing design deficiencies and installation problems to maintain equipment integrity and mitigate potential failures. </li></ul><br /> <strong> OTHER FUNCTIONS </strong> <br /><ul> <li> Operates Authority vehicle between work locations to perform job duties as required. </li></ul><br /> <strong>The essential duties listed are not intended to limit specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
