<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />The position is located in the Family Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Branch of the Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division of the DC Superior Court. The Family ADR Branch Chief is responsible for overseeing all programs within the branch including Domestic Relations Mediation, Child Protection Mediation, Community Information and Referral Program, ATTEND Truancy Program and the Program for Agreement and Cooperation in Contested Custody Cases (PAC).<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>Manages the day-to-day operation of the Family and Community ADR Branch of the Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division</li> <li>Works with the Director and other stakeholders to develop or modify policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of program performance and case management</li> <li>Works with the Director and other stakeholders to develop and implement new initiatives that address client demands or unmet service needs in the District of Columbia</li> <li>Assists in drafting family mediation agreements and reviews agreements for accuracy and completeness, conformity with the law, program policies and judicial directives</li> <li>Annually and semi-annually evaluates employee performance and develops performance measures and standards to determine when an employee is meeting expectations</li> <li>Briefs all family court judges and magistrates regarding policies and procedures of family mediation, responds to their requests, and consults with them regarding specific cases and charges in administrative procedures</li> <li>Plans, recruits, selects and trains neutrals to mediate in assigned programs including post-training mentoring and peer reviews</li> <li>Develops and analyzes statistical and narrative information on program operations and case work for periodic reports</li> <li>Performs duties of the Director, as designated, regarding Family and Community Intake matters during the director's absence</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Not required<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> Yes <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 13 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>Background and security investigation are required. </li> <li>A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed.</li> </ul> <br /><br />To qualify for this position, you must submit the following: <br />1. List of professional references<br /><br />All required documentation must be received by the closing date of the announcement.<br /><br /><b>Qualifications</b><br /><br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree with emphasis in social sciences plus five (5) years of experience as a mediator with three (3) of those years in family mediation. An advanced degree in conflict resolution or law, with emphasis in family law, is preferred. <br /><br />Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience and experience managing a court-based, community-based, federal, state, or private mediation program<br /><br />Extensive knowledge of alternative dispute resolution methodologies including mediation, domestic violence safety protocols, and knowledge of family law and litigation<br /><br />Knowledge of applicable sections of the Superior Court, Family and Multi-Door Division administrative policies and procedures; D.C. Code, U.S. Codes, Federal Rules of Procedure, and appellate decisions affecting the mission and operations of the Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division.<br /><br />The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts' values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency.<br /><br /><b>Education</b><br /><br />To qualify based on education, upload a copy of your college transcript or degree.
