The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must have admission to the NYS Bar and 24 months of subsequent satisfactory legal experience.

The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Research and Vetting: · Oversee and direct all background research and vetting for the Office of the State Comptroller. · Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on a wide variety of individuals and organizations that may interact with the Office of the State Comptroller, including potential event honorees and speakers; potential appointees, contractors and vendors; and other individuals and entities arising during the course of the Office of the State Comptroller investigations and examinations. · Make recommendations to executive staff based upon results of research and analysis. · Prepare written summaries of research and analysis. · Effectively manage multiple matters simultaneously and in a time sensitive environment. Investigative Component: · Conduct confidential investigations of alleged corruption, fraud and misappropriation of public monies. · Develop investigative case plans and strategies. · Coordinate, prepare and conduct witness interviews. · Conduct legal research and draft memorandums. · Prepare written reports summarizing investigative findings. · Draft subpoenas. · Serve as liaison for the Office of the State Comptroller with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. · Collaborate with outside law enforcement to prepare an investigation for grand jury presentation or trial. · Work closely with other divisions within the Office of the State Comptroller. · Manage and prioritize active caseload and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Additional Comments KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: · Law degree. · NY Bar admission. · A minimum of three years of legal experience. · Knowledge of criminal law and procedure preferred. · Knowledge of state and local government operations preferred. · Strong computer skills and facility with various databases and research tools. · Strong electronic research skills. · Strong verbal and written communication skills. · Must maintain high level of integrity, confidentiality and discretion. · Strong work ethic, positive attitude and desire to function as part of a team.
