<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />The House Office Buildings jurisdiction is accepting applications for a Laborer (Recycler) to perform a wide range of laborer duties including setting up and arranging furniture; moving furniture, supplies, boxes and construction materials; operating floor care equipment; and performing other cleaning and maintenance tasks. We are filling for Evening and Night shifts.<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />Tour of Duty:<br /><br />Evening Shift: Monday – Friday (6:00 P.M. – 2:30 P.M.)<br /><br />Night Shift: Monday – Friday (10:00 P.M. – 6:30 A.M)<br /><br />Shifts May Change Due to Operating Needs of Management.<br /><br />The employee is a Laborer performing a wide range of duties including setting up and arranging furniture; moving furniture, supplies, boxes and construction materials; operating floor care equipment; and performing other cleaning and maintenance tasks.<br /><br />Duties:<br /><br />Load and unload heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and heavy construction building materials and supplies to and from trucks. Move heavy boxes and cartons by hand, hand truck, or dolly. Collect trash and debris from Congressional Buildings and surrounding grounds. Empty trash, garbage and other debris from receptacles located throughout the building and the grounds. Perform other tasks such as clearing snow and ice from building entrances, spreading salt, and picking up litter.<br /><br />Use, maintain and operate powered floor machines and hand tools such as vacuums, brooms, buffers, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture to perform laborer and cleaning duties.<br /><br />Empty wastebaskets, collect and dispose of refuse. Sweep, mop and wax floors; wash walls and windows, dust and perform other cleaning duties.<br /><br />Collect and sort recyclable material, including aluminum cans, plastic and glass bottles, newspaper, and paper, from various locations with the buildings. Reline recycle containers with plastic bags. Place recycled material in appropriate locations as determined by management. Collect all wet waste material from various locations within buildings and relines all wet waste containers and disposes of all wet waste materials. Clean recycling containers as necessary.<br /><br />Provide set-up and support for special events. Set up dining areas, meeting rooms, auditoriums, classrooms, etc., in various configurations for many types of events. Move and arrange furniture and equipment for changes in room assignments or room configurations.
