<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />This position is located in the Department of the Chief Program Officer, Office of AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), in Washington, DC.<br /><br />NCCC is a full-time, team-based residential program for men and women age 18-24. The program is designed to strengthen communities and develop leaders through direct, team-based national and community service. Corps members are assigned to 1 of 4 campuses in Denver, CO; Sacramento, CA; Vicksburg,MS; and Vinton,IA.<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />The Program Associate provides a variety of administrative, logistical and technical support to facilitate the work flow of the Medical Screening and Selection and Placement Units. Responsibilities include supporting office operations by accomplishing such activities as: working in automated systems to enter and retrieve data, communicating with Corps Member applicants to provide and obtain information, conducting research, preparing correspondence, and accomplishing general administrative activities. <ul> <li>Conducts general research and completes an array of assignments in support of mission accomplishment.</li> <li>Works in online data management systems to compile reports.</li> <li>Provides general administrative support for the organization to include: ordering supplies, ensuring equipment is in working order, and establishing and maintaining subject matter files.</li> <li>Makes logistical arrangements for meetings and events like scheduling meeting room, preparing agendas, and producing meeting or conference materials, as necessary.</li> <li>Prepares letters, reports, briefing and presentation materials and other documents utilizing a range of software programs with a particular emphasis of Microsoft Office Suite.</li> <li>Contributes as a team member to the development, support and implementation of special initiatives.</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Not required<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 1 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>You must be a United States Citizen</li> <li>A 2-year probationary period is required for new Federal employees</li> <li>Merit Promotion applicants must submit a SF-50 to verify Status and grade</li> <li>Must be telework ready</li> <li>Satisfactory completion of a background investigation</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Qualifications</b><br /><br />Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to, at least the mid-range of the NY-01 pay band which would be at, or equivalent to, the GS-4 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience <strong>must</strong> include: 1) updating and maintaining data system(s); 2) proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software; and 3) work experience providing general administrative support for an organization.<br /><br />Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.<br /><br />Such experience <strong>must be clearly documented</strong> in the applicant's resume. <br /><br /><b>Education</b><br /><br />If you are qualifying based on education alone, you must have successfully completed two full years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.<br /><br />You may also qualify based on a combination of education and experience, if applicable. <br /><br /><b>Additional information</b><br /><br />If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/59 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency.<br /><br /><strong>Veteran's Preference:</strong> If you are claiming 5-point or 10-point veteran's preference, you must submit documentation described below in "Required Documents."<br /><br /><strong>Special Employment Consideration:</strong> Persons with disabilities, disabled veterans who have a compensable service-connected disability of 30% or more, certain other veterans, spouses of certain members of the Armed Forces, VISTA volunteers, some Peace Corps employees and returning Peace Corps volunteers are examples of individuals who are potentially eligible for noncompetitive appointment.
