<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />As a Visual Information Specialist at the GS-1084-12, you will be part of National Background Investigations Bureau.The Visual Information Specialist conceives, plans, designs, and creates visual information products that are thematically appropriate, aesthetically arranged, and of high production value. Products may be still, motion, or animated in nature and distributed by print, video, or internet. Work performed supports the visual information needs of multiple offices in the bureau.<br /> Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>Consults with senior leaders, managers, training staff, operational staff, subject matter experts, partner agencies, and external customers to assess the bureau's visual information needs pertaining to communication of organizational goals.</li> <li>Conceptualizes, plans, designs, creates, and produces original artwork, graphics, videography, animation, and other visuals for use in policy handbooks, training manuals, forms, presentations, interactive multimedia courseware, promotional materials, briefings, conferences, etc.</li> <li>Chooses the graphics software used to create the product; designs screen layouts; selects stock graphics from clip art, photo houses, and other sources; edits existing graphics; converts different graphics file formats; produce original artwork such as logos, drawings, and buttons; ensures consistent graphics display across different computer platforms.</li> <li>Identifies existing sources for required sound elements; conducts recording sessions for narration, music, and sound effects; edit sounds by adjusting and correcting sound segments for length, pitch, and amplitude; mixes sound tracks; adds special effects; digitizes analog sound sources; selects and implements appropriate sound sample rates and compression strategies; selects and converts sounds to appropriate digital file formats; and evaluates proposed uses of sound.</li> <li>Develops and implements policies and procedures for integrating the role of Visual Information Specialist into existing workflows.</li> <li>Conducts market research for finished visual products or equipment sourced from third parties; prepares contract requirements for larger- scale, third party acquisitions; acts as or advises the COR for contracted work</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Occasional travel – You may be expected to travel for this position.<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 12 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>Must be a U.S. Citizen or National</li> <li>Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service</li> <li>Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation</li> <li>May be required to successfully complete a probationary period</li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Qualifications</b><br /><br />For the GS 12: You must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government, specialized experience must include:<br /> (1) Preparing photographs, illustrations, artwork, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visible means;<br /> (2) Conceptualizes, plans, designs, and produces original artwork, graphics, videography, animation, and other visuals for use in policy handbooks;<br /> (3) Applying interpretive best practices to ensure that interpretive themes, concepts and stories are easily understood by diverse audiences;<br /> (4) Applying universal design theories to all media in order to reach a diverse audience; <br /><br /><strong>Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.</strong>One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level.<br /><br />You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.<br /><br />Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
