<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />The Pharmacy Technician at the McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia serves as a direct assistant to the Pharmacist. The Pharmacy Technician must have an understanding of the workflow, routine, and responsibilities of the Pharmacy program for both inpatient and outpatient processes and procedures; and, must be able to work both independently and under the direction of a Pharmacist.<br /> Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>Prepares aseptic admixture, including cytoxic agents.</li> <li>Automatic and Omnicell stock replenishment, maintenance and operation of automated prepackaging storage and dispensing equipment.</li> <li>Receives and reviews pharmacy dispensing orders for accuracy of information, duplication, and authorization for dispensing in order to process.</li> <li>Reads and interprets prescriptions, obtains proper medication or material in the proper strength and dosage form; determines proper amount and counts, pours, or measures the medications; affixes proper label; and records required data on pharmacy's copy of prescription/order.</li> <li>Prepares outpatient medications in ambulatory care and discharge situations.
