This position continues the on-going development of a technical compliance organization within MBRDNA. This position also cooperates closely with technical compliance efforts across affiliated entities in NAFTA, as well as the technical compliance team at Daimler AG (IL/P). The position uses external legal and engineering expertise as needed. Most significantly, the position is expected to contribute to the successful performance of MBRDNA by providing sound legal advice regarding vehicle compliance and regulatory matters facing the Company. The position will be a legal support for line functions in the execution of their technical compliance responsibilities.
• Responsible for legal matters relating to the implementation of the technical compliance management system (tCMS) for all NAFTA entities.
• Will assist in running the legal and regulatory competence center for NAFTA regarding Safety, Emissions, and Vehicle Compliance.
• The position will also provide legal guidance regarding CASE New Technologies (Connected, Autonomous Driving, Shared Vehicles and Electric).
• In addition, this position coordinates and executes enforcement activities at MBRDNA, and along with MBRDNA’s Regulatory and Government Compliance, builds up and co-leads the MBRDNA technical compliance team based in Long Beach, CA
Minimum level of
education required and required field of study:
Master of Laws / Juris Doctorate Degree
from a United States Law School.
•At least eight (8) years of
experience in professional roles with focus on legal and regulatory compliance
•Prior automotive experience or similar industries is considered a plus factor
as is experience working for international companies or an international law
•Proven track record of working closely with internal and external business
equivalent work experience in lieu of formal education
Degree and Years of experience acceptable (minimum) :
Bachelors + 12 yrs / Masters + 8 yrs / PhD + 5 yrs
Other licenses or
certifications required :
practice law in at least one US Jurisdiction and eligible to practice under
Rule 9.46 of the California Rules of Court.
