<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br /><b>About the Position: </b>The Logistics Readiness Center provides logistics support to service members and units assigned to he Adelphi Lab Center during peace or war. The center exercises authority over and develops plans and policies for all installation logistics activities, supply, maintenance, transportation and materiel readiness.<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br /><ul> <li>In this position you will serve as an Inventory Management Specialist for the US Army Sustainment Command with a duty station of Adelphi, MD. </li> <li>Ensures implementation of higher echelon directives, procedures, related to the retention and disposal of accountable records. </li> <li>Ascertains the impact on directorate operations and issues necessary instructions to implement the policies and procedures contained in the basic directive. </li> <li>Directs the development and/or revision of operational and administrative plans, procedures and guidelines to assure adequacy and accuracy of the centralized inventory accounting system. </li> <li>Evaluates operations to meet program objectives. </li> <li>Manages property accountability using the Accountable Property Systems of Record (APSR) such as Property Book Unit Supply Enhanced (PBUSE) Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) and the Global Combat Support System- Army (GCSS-A), for the Command. </li> <li>Responsible for successfully managing and maintaining the Command Supply Discipline Program (CSDP) AR 735-5. </li> <li>As the APO, the incumbent administers, oversees and directs plans, and directs the property management program in throughout the Command. </li> <li>The program is characterized by the management of the inventory scheduling of hand receipt holder accounts, proper and timely keeping of all accountable property records, management of the records for all leased, loaned and borrowed equipment, and management of the records for all equipment transferred into and out of the Property Book.</li> <li>Assures that all requisitions for the purchase of equipment, personal property, and supplies are properly reviewed for authorization and processed according to all Army Regulations. </li> <li>Challenges requisitions on the basis of economy and supply discipline.</li> <li>Returns to originating elements unjustified requests for further justifications and rejects requests, which cannot be justified in light of the operating element mission, funds, or other available alternatives. </li> <li>Clears all requisitions for source of supply, assisting in the processing of requisition in accordance with applicable regulations and Command guidance. </li> <li>Screens lists of excess property and supplies for the purpose of redistributing such items. Applies document numbers, priorities designators, etc., as set forth in Army Regulations. </li> <li>Reviews all credit card purchases to assure proper authorization and priority designation, and that they are entered as required by regulation onto property records. </li> <li>Assures that all property acquired by whatever means either on-site or off-site, is properly managed.</li> <li>Prepares inventory lists, assists Hand Receipt Holders as required in conducting their inventories, and adjusts property records as required to ensure accuracy. </li> <li>Works with management and personnel to settle problems of a special, controversial, or technical nature, as they occur, regarding all phases of property management. </li> <li>Reviews and approves inventory reports to assure compliance with all regulations, and to see that appropriate adjustments are made when necessary. </li> <li>Prepares and assures the execution of an annual inventory schedule of accounts, reporting problems and discrepancies as required. </li> <li>Serves as point of contact and advisor for auditors, inspectors, and investigators, by explaining and justifying overall local policies and procedures used to account for property. </li> <li>Provides information for investigations and is accountable for accuracy of information provided as to the circumstances involved in individual property transactions. </li> <li>Responsible for coordinating replies to audit reports and investigations to assure corrective action is taken as required.</li> <li>Develops long-range goals for special projects and production-oriented work. </li> <li>Participates in meetings and conferences to discuss advanced information and guidance. </li> <li>Coordinates briefings/orientations for visitors. </li> <li>Reviews inventory, procedures and storage conditions. </li> <li>Determines if any conditions exist that would be detrimental to the safeguarding of government property, and if so reports findings to officials for corrective action. </li> <li>Represents the Command on visits to contractor sites to resolve major inventory problems to assure that regulatory property accounting requirements are implemented and controlled. </li> <li>Participates as the Command representative in meetings on studies regarding inventory functions with the authority to make decisions and commitments on any phase of assigned functional responsibility.<br /><br /></li> </ul> <br /><br /><b>Travel Required</b><br /><br />Occasional travel – You may be expected to travel for this position.<br /><br />Supervisory status <br /> No <br /><br />Promotion Potential <br /> 12 <br /><br /></li> <b>Requirements</b><br /><br /><b>Conditions of Employment</b><br /><br /><ul> </ul> <br /> <ul> <li>This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. </li> <li>Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.</li> <li>Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
