<b>Duties</b><br /><br /><b>Summary</b><br /><br />This position is in the Office of Economics and Analytics (OEA), Federal Communication Commission located in Washington, DC.<br /><br />Learn more about this agency <br /><br /><b>Responsibilities</b><br /><br />The Office of Economics and Analytics (OEA) works with the Chairman, Commissioners, Bureaus and Offices to ensure that economic analysis is deeply and consistently incorporated into the agency's regular operations and supports work across the FCC and throughout the decision-making process. OEA is charged with expanding and deepening the use of economic analysis in Commission policy making; continuing and enhancing the development and use of auctions; and, implementing consistent and effective agency-wide data practices and policies. OEA is the Commission's principal source for economic analysis; design and implementation of auctions; and, the use and management of data. Specifically, it will: (a) provide economic analysis for rulemakings, transactions, adjudications, and other Commission actions; (b) manage the FCC's auctions in support of and in coordination with FCC Bureaus and Offices; (c) develop policies and strategies to help manage the FCC's data resources and establish best practices for data use throughout the FCC, in coordination with FCC Bureaus and Offices; (d) be responsible for specific economically-relevant data collections; and, (e) conduct long-term research on ways to improve the Commission's policies and processes in each of these areas.<br /><br />The Office Director of OEA serves as an authoritative economist and policy advisor involved in formulating and communicating economic analysis for policy decisions on major FCC national and international programs; projects and initiatives which have a direct and substantial impact on the future development of the U.S. communications industry; and, its position as a world leader in communications. Provides leadership and direction to a professional staff involved in performing major economic analysis; auction program implementation; data collection and resource management assignments; and long-term research studies, projects and initiatives.
